Synopsis (intro)

父親の遺産を兄弟で分けたとき、末の息子の手元に残ったのは一匹の猫だけだった。がっかりする若者に、猫は長靴と袋さえ用意してくれれば運を開いてみせると請け合う。猫は獲物を手に王さまのもとへ通い、主人を「カラバ侯爵」という架空の貴族に仕立てていく。口先と機転だけで、貧しい若者の行く末をどこまで変えられるのか。ペローの童話集に収められた一話。
