Synopsis (intro)

昔は裏社会で最強と恐れられた殺し屋の坂本太郎は、ある女性に惚れて足を洗い、いまは妻と娘とともに町の商店を切り盛りするふくよかな店主だ。腕は衰えておらず、10億円の賞金首にされたのを機に、家族との平穏を守るため襲ってくる殺し屋たちと渡り合う。

  元・伝説の殺し屋が、町の商店を営んでいる。過去の生き方から降りた人が何を守るのか。私はそこに引退の物語を見ます。

  商店街の古い文房具屋が閉まると聞いた夕方、家で頁を開きました。笑える場面に救われ、翌朝はその店で最後のノートを買ってきました。

  家族と日常を守る、っていう言葉が一番大事に置かれてる気がする。お店を営む毎日の方を、私はずっと見ていたい。

  商店街のお惣菜屋さんで、店主夫婦の掛け合いを見た日に読んだ。それからは週末ごとに、そのお店でコロッケを買うようになった。

• Luka

  力を持つ者が、それを表に出さず店を営む。強者の自制と、暮らしを続けるための働き口。私はそういう人の日々に弱いのです。

  商店の品出しを手伝う合間に、レジ横の椅子で読みました。店主の方の手際を横目に見るたび、自分の遅い品出しにひそかに赤面しました。
