カントー地方の少年レッドは、オーキド博士からヒトカゲを譲り受け、図鑑を完成させる使命を預かって旅に出る。道中ではライバルのグリーンと競い、ジムの主タケシに挑み、悪の組織ロケット団を率いるサカキとも対峙する。ゲーム赤・緑の設定に則った、全4話の物語。
