原因不明の大災害から五年後の二〇三九年、日本。練馬大学の天才コンビ、天馬午太郎とお茶の水博志は、「心」を宿した新型人工知能を作り上げ、自律型ロボット「A106」を完成させる。研究室は慢性的な資金不足で、二人は賞金目当てにロボット・レスリングへ参戦し、勝ち上がって優勝、一躍脚光を浴びる。
